Government
Government is characterized by an administrative branch consisting of three elected officials, the Mayor, the Finance Director and the Law Director. The legislative branch of the government which is responsible for making laws consists of eight council members. One council person representing each ward in the City which is defined by geographical borders; three others are council members at-large who represent the city as a whole, and one is elected council president who oversees the official operations of council but only votes in the event of a tie.
