Landmarks
The Landmarks Commission, an official commission of the city, endeavors to point out the older buildings of which we can be proud, and to encourage their owners to keep them in sound and attractive condition. One way which recognition is given to such buildings is though the award of historical building plaques for display on those buildings fulfilling the requirements. Thirteen homes on Butternut Ridge Road have such plaques. Also on Butternut Ridge Road are two historical markers, one recognizing the Oxcart Library and the other locating the community's first cemetery.
