Councilman Barker serves as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, the Vice Chair of the Environmental Control committee, and as a member of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee.  Paul formerly served as Chairman of Recreation, Public Parks & Buildings Committee.

Councilman Barker was appointed to Council in June of 2005 and won an unopposed election that year to a 4-year term.  Paul has been involved in City matters since 1998, and he has attended council and committee meetings.  He volunteered and served as chairman on the Community Development Block Grant-Citizen Advisory Committee as well as the Landmarks Commission.

Councilman Barker has lived or has had family in North Olmsted since 1963. He graduated from NOHS in 1969. He and his wife Nancy have owned a home in North Olmsted since 1983. They are members of St. Clarence Church. Their daughter is married and has two children. Paul has been a small business owner in manufacturing since 1969.
