Mark and his wife Karen have resided in North Olmsted since 1997.  They are the proud parents of three children; Ryan, Matt and Katey.  Ryan is a student at Cleveland State University.  Matt is entering his senior year at North Olmsted High School and Katey attends Pine Elementary School.  Karen is a licensed speech pathologist, and works for the North Olmsted City Schools. 

Mark has served as an Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor for the past eighteen years.  Currently assigned to the Appeals Unit, Mark was a member of the Major Trial Division for over ten years.  He was responsible for prosecuting homicide cases and violent crimes perpetrated against women and children.  Mark was presented with the County Prosecutor of the Year Award for 2007.

Councilman Mahoney obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Buffalo State College, and his law degree from the University of Toledo.  Upon graduating from law school, Mark had the rare opportunity to be a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Ohio for the Honorable Justice Alice Robie Resnick.

Prior to being elected to City Council, he served as Vice-Chairman of the Planning and Design Commission.  Mark has also volunteered for many years as a soccer coach for the North Olmsted Soccer Organization.  He has served as President of the Sandy Ridge Homeowners Association.

Councilman Mahoney serves as the Chairman of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee.  He is the vice-chair of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee, and is a member of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee.
