Information and Referral

            The Senior Center Social Worker, Tiffany Hunt, LSW offers information and referral for a variety of subjects.  Please do not hesitate to call the Senior Center regarding information on Medicare, Medicaid, Senior Living, Adult Day Care, Utility Assistance, Transportation, or any other senior service you may be in need of.  The Senior Center refers to private companies and individuals in regards to services to seniors, including, but not limited to, home health aides and agencies, lawn care, snow removal, in home beauticians and barbers, attorneys, and much more!

 

Ohio Benefit Bank

            The North Olmsted Senior Center is an Ohio Benefit Bank site.  The Ohio Benefit Bank is a web-based program to connect low income individuals to public benefits.  If you would like to find out if you qualify and apply for food stamps, health care coverage, or home energy assistance please call Tiffany Hunt, LSW at 440-716-4264 to set up an appointment to utilize the Ohio Benefit Bank.

 

AARP Tax Assistance

            Beginning each year in January the North Olmsted Senior Center takes appointments for tax assistance.  This is a free service provided by AARP volunteers.  All appointments take place on Wednesdays beginning in February and continuing through until the last Wednesday before taxes are due.  Please call the Senior Center at 440-777-8100 to make an appointment.  If you have questions regarding your taxes please call the center on Wednesdays between 11:00-3:00 to speak with an AARP tax volunteer.

 

Alzheimer's Support Group

            A monthly dementia care group meets on the first Friday of every month at 2:30.  Individuals caring for someone with memory loss attend the meeting to support each other and gain knowledge from one another.  Facilitators from the Alzheimer's Association also participate in the group.

 

Housing Fair

            Wednesday, June 27th from 11:30-2:30.

            Please stop in during this informational open house.  Over 40 vendors will offer information about their organizations and services. 

 

Home Energy Assistance Program Application Assistance:

            Friday, February 17th from 9:00-12:00 by appointment.

            Betty Morgan from the Information and Outreach Unit of the Cuyahoga County Dept. of Senior & Adult Services will be assisting individuals with completing Home Energy Assistance Program Applications.  Please make an appointment and have your proof of income and utility bills available for the appointment.

2012 Health Screenings:

            The Senior Center offers a variety of health screenings including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, hearing, glaucoma, skin cancer, and osteoporosis.

Below is a list of current scheduled screenings.  These screenings are all offered free of charge.

  • Blood Pressure Screenings – No appointments necessary.  Offered by St. John Medical Center, Fairview Hospital, and Rae Ann Skilled Nursing.

                        Every Monday from 10:00-11:30.

  •  Hearing Screening & Wax Cleaning – Please make an appointment.

                        Thursday, February 16th from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

  •  Bone Density for Women – Please make an appointment.

                        Thursday, May 10th 9:00-11:00 a.m. 

  •  Cholesterol & Glucose – 2 hour fast and appointments required.

                        Monday, May 14th from 10:00-11:30 a.m.

  •  Cholesterol & Glucose – No appointments or fasting necessary.

                        Thursday, September 20th from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  Offered by St. John West Shore Hospital.
