Information and Referral

The Senior Center Social Worker, Tiffany Hunt, LSW offers information and referral for a variety of subjects.  Please do not hesitate to call the Senior Center regarding information on Medicare, Medicaid, Senior Living, Adult Day Care, Utility Assistance, Transportation, or any other senior service you may be in need of.  The Senior Center refers to private companies and individuals in regards to services to seniors, including, but not limited to, home health aides and agencies, lawn care, snow removal, in home beauticians and barbers, attorneys, plumbers, electricians, and much more!

Ohio Benefit Bank

The North Olmsted Senior Center is an Ohio Benefit Bank site.  The Ohio Benefit Bank is a web-based program to connect low income individuals to public benefits.  If you would like to find out if you qualify and apply for food stamps, health care coverage, or home energy assistance please call Tiffany Hunt, LSW at 440-716-4264 to set up an appointment to utilize the Ohio Benefit Bank.

AARP Tax Assistance

Beginning each year in January the North Olmsted Senior Center takes appointments for tax assistance.  This is a free service provided by AARP volunteers.  All appointments take place on Wednesdays beginning in February and continuing through until the last Wednesday before taxes are due.  Please call the Senior Center at 440-777-8100 to make an appointment.  If you have questions regarding your taxes please call the center on Wednesdays between 11:00-3:00 to speak with an AARP tax volunteer.

Alzheimer's Support Group

A monthly dementia care group meets on the first Friday of every month at 2:30.  Individuals caring for someone with memory loss attend the meeting to support each other and gain knowledge from one another.  Facilitators from the Alzheimer's Association also participate in the group.

Family Caregiver Support

Caregiver informational programs are offered throughout the year for informal caregivers.  Caregivers are often friends and family who perform a variety of duties for their loved ones.  Informational programs offer support and education on many topics. 

Please note: Lunch is provided at all programs.  A suggested donation of 50 cents is appreciated.  All Family Caregiver Support Programs are made possible by an Older Americans Act grant from the Ohio Department of Aging through the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging.

Health ScreeningsThe Senior Center offers a variety of health screenings including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, hearing, glaucoma, skin cancer, and osteoporosis.  Below is a list of current scheduled screenings.  These screenings are all offered free of charge.

• Blood Pressure Screenings – No appointments necessary; Every Monday from 10:00-11:30  
• Hearing Screening & Wax Cleaning– Please make an appointment; Thursday, April 15^th from 9:00-11:00 
• Bone Density – Please make an appointment; Thursday, May 6^th from 9:00-11:00.  Offered by St. John West Shore Hospital 
• Cholesterol & Glucose – Please make an appointment.  2 hour fast required; Monday, May 10^th from 10:00-11:30.  Offered by Fairview Hospital 
• Cholesterol & Glucose – No appointments or fasting necessary; Thursday, September 16^th from 9:00-11:00.  Offered by St. John West Shore Hospital
