Location, Location, Location

North Olmsted’s got it! Two recent major development projects demonstrate that North Olmsted is a growing regional hub for traveler accommodations.

A new Hampton Inn is now under construction at the southwest corner of Country Club Boulevard and Columbia Road. This 4-story, 118-room features an indoor pool, fitness center, meeting facilities and a large breakfast room. The hotel is expected to be open by August or September of 2016. The project was originally proposed in 2008 but faced several delays. Now back on track, the building construction is estimated at $9 million.

On October 20th, North Olmsted City Council approved another hotel proposal. Aloft Hotel, part of the Starwood family of hotels and resorts, is planned for construction on Great Northern Boulevard just south of Moen. The stylish 135-room Aloft is one of the fastest growing hotel brands, known for loft-style rooms, modern design, and vibrant social spaces. Hotel amenities will include an indoor pool, fitness facility, re:fuel at Aloft – a gourmet grab and go food and beverage area, meeting space, and of course, the W XYZ bar. Designed for the “next generation traveler,” this Aloft Hotel will be only the third in the brand to locate in Northeast Ohio, joining Aloft Downtown Cleveland and Aloft Beachwood.

Developers expect a second phase of the Aloft project will include a free-standing restaurant on the same site. Additional land would also remain for possible future office development.

Neither hotel is expected to be open in time to serve the Republican National Convention in July of 2016. Regardless, North Olmsted’s location adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International airport and in close proximity to downtown Cleveland makes our community an excellent location for guests for the RNC or other business travelers at all times of the year. Travelers also enjoy the many shopping, dining and entertainment options in the Great Northern area.
