For the safety and well-being of the community, City officials have canceled the 2020 BOOM! celebration originally planned for June 28.
The decision was made due to mandated public health restrictions on large gatherings to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 during this unprecedented pandemic. Following recommended social distancing guidelines and safety protocols at such a large public event would be difficult.
“This was a decision to protect our residents’ safety,” said Mayor Kevin Kennedy. “We realize this is disappointing news for families, and I am saddened that this North Olmsted tradition will be stalled this year. However, the health and safety of our community is our priority.”
The annual event is the City’s largest community gathering and features food vendors, family activities and entertainment, and a fireworks display celebrating the upcoming Independence Day holiday.
