Earlier this year, the City of North Olmsted was awarded a Healthy Urban Tree Canopy Grant from Cuyahoga County. The project involves the removal of 20 trees and installation of 60 trees in the southern portion of North Olmsted Community Park to improve the long term viability of the tree canopy. The new trees will replace dead trees, trees suffering from blight and trees that have been removed over time due to weather-related events. Work begins this week on tree removal, and new trees will be planted starting in October. A variety of new trees will replace the monoculture making the canopy more disease resistant. The additional tree canopy will benefit the environment and appearance of the park.
