Department of Economic and Community Development

The North Olmsted Department of Economic and Community Development is responsible for all programs and activities related to planning and development in the City. Responsibilities include developing and implementing the City’s Master Plan, updating the City’s Zoning Code, providing guidance to the City’s decision makers regarding public and private development and implementing policies aimed at improving the quality of life and economic well-being of the City and all of its residents.

The Department also provides staff support for the Boards and Commissions charged with development review and historic preservation, including the Planning & Design Commission, Building & Zoning Board of Appeals, Landmarks Commission and Arts Commission. The Division of Engineering is also a part of the Department of Economic and Community Development.
