City Hall Art Gallery: Dennis Nelson

The North Olmsted Arts Commission displays artwork from local artists on a temporary basis at the North Olmsted City Hall, providing an opportunity for artists and art groups to introduce or expand upon the visibility of their artwork through interaction with the local viewing public.

The featured artist for November 2019 is Dennis Nelson. His collection includes an array of vibrant colors and bold patterns. “Most of my paintings now are fluid art or poured acrylic. Once they are done, I put resin on top of them for protection,” says Dennis.

Dennis is a 72-year-old, two-time resident of North Olmsted. Retiring in 2004 after 37 years in the US Coast Guard, Dennis and his wife, Sandy, moved from West Virginia back to North Olmsted and found a house on the same street they lived on years ago. “We have the same neighbors we had before,” says Dennis. “We love North Olmsted.”

Dennis shared that while he was interested in art throughout his life, it was in his retirement that he’s been able to devote more time to his craft. “Art lets me do something more and create something. I keep busy!”

See samples of Dennis’s work below and stop into City Hall during business hours to view the entire collection.
