Santa’s Grand Arrival Moved Indoors

The fireworks show slated for tomorrow evening at Great Northern Mall is being cancelled because of weather forecasts calling for rain and wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour.

The fireworks show requires six hours of set-up time, and cannot be set up during the anticipated rain. Also, the show cannot be executed with the expected wind gusts, according to Mad Bomber Fireworks, the company engaged to put on the fireworks show. This decision is being made with regard to the safety of all concerned.

However, “Santa’s Grand Arrival” will go on as planned at the Mall with an indoor event from 5:30-7 p.m., including an in-mall parade. Other family-friendly activities will include: the RealPopFusion Team, Stomper, the Lake Erie Crushers’ mascot, the 20-member Caliber Dance Team, Flower Clowns Olaf and Stilts, the Northeast Ohio Creatives Team with Grinch, Cindy Lou, Buddy and Jovie, the Amusematte Team, and, of course, Santa Claus himself.

“While there will be no fireworks show in North Olmsted in 2023, we encourage everyone to visit the mall on Friday evening for ‘Santa’s Grand Arrival’ inside the mall,” said North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones.
